What is Medicare?
Medicare is a health insurance program for people 65 or older or people under 65 with certain disabilities or end-stage renal disease. Medicare helps cover the costs of the hospital stays, skilled nursing home stays up to 100 days and hospice care. You will be provided with current rates and coverage by our admission team.
What is Medicaid?
The Medicaid program provides medical benefits to low-income people who have no or limited medical insurance. Each state establishes the program’s requirements including eligibility. Our social services department is available to assist with the application process.
What is skilled nursing care?
A skilled nursing service is a service that must be provided by a registered nurse, or a licensed practical nurse under the supervision of a registered nurse, to be safe and effective. Services may be classified as a skilled nursing service on the basis of complexity alone, e.g., intravenous and intramuscular injections or insertion of a catheter. When determining whether a service requires the skills of a nurse, one must consider both the inherent complexity of the service, the condition of the patient and accepted standards of medical and nursing practice.
What should I look for when selecting Alzheimer’s/Dementia care?
When searching for care for those living with Alzheimer’s and related dementia, the primary focus should be finding an environment that is warm, peaceful, and safe. It is important to ask the type of programming that is offered and if it is customized to the individual. The facility should have a interdisciplinary care plan to handle residents who are no longer independently eating, those who wander, and those who have changes in mood.
Concerns about the flu. What precautions should I take?
Consult with your doctor about getting the flu shot. You can avoid germs by frequent and proper hand washing and not visiting the facility if you are feeling ill. The CDC website has the most current information regarding the flu and flu vaccines.
